Isabel the catholic

She was queen of Castilla and Leon. Her husband was king of Aragon. She was born on 22 April 1451. In 1492 the spanish Christopher Columbus discovered America. She also conquered the Nasrid Kingom of Granada. Isabella received the title of Catholic Monarch by Pope Alexander VI. Isabel and her husband created an empire. She married at the age of six to Ferdinand. Her brother named Isabela his sucesor

My old newspaper

I have chosen Cristopher Columbus
He presented to the Catholic Monarchs his project surrounding te world through the atlantic ocean. He presented some conditions if he discovered something.
He left the 3 of august of 1492 with 90 sailors and three ships: La PInta, La Niña and La Santa Maria.
he saw land the 12 of October of 1492 and he thought he was in Japan but he really was in some islands of central America. This proved that the earth is round
He did 4 voyages in total to america. He returned from his first voyage and the king of portugal received notices of this so they created the Treaty of Tordesillas. Ir was a treaty signed by the king of Portugal and the Catholic Monarchs. It divided the unexplored part of the world. Part of Brasil and most Europe,Asia and Oceania were from portugal and America was from Castile
In his second voyage he found a safer and faster route.
In the last two voyages, Columbus explored part of North and South America.
He returned to castile in 1504 because he was acused of abusing of the indians. He was not put into pridion but he was taken away all the titles. He died two years later, in 1506.
In 1502 a cartographer called Amerigo Vespucci created one of the first maps showing the new lands. Later, the new continent discovered was called America in his honour.

Interview

-Hello, today we are going to interview Cristopher Colombus. So, hello. Tell us, how did you feel when you arrived to america?

-Hello. So, when I arrived to america I thought that I was in India, so I did not feel anything but happiness.

- So, you have said that you did not know that you were there. When did you know it?

- I,ve never knew it but I realised later that it seemed different to the description of India that everybody says.

- And how did you see the people there?

- I saw them like strange people because they lived in tribes and looked to us in a very strange way. Later we knew that it was because they thought that we were gods because of our horses and our way of dressing.

- Oh, that is interesting. Do you have any other anecdote?

-Yes, at first we did not know what did they think of our gloves but we did not ask them. One day, one of them told as that why could we have four hands and take off two of them. We then understood that they thought that we were born with them or something strange so we explained it to them and they understood.

-So thank you for coming today.

- You´re welcome.
